President of the Russian Federation Ministry of Transport Maritime State University Visits HEU

On October 29, 2017, the president of the Russian Federation Ministry of Transport Maritime State University, SERGEY A.OGAY, and the director of the North and South Poles Research Center, Mikhail Voylosnikov, visited HEU. President YAO Yu met the guests in the VIP meeting room of the main building .


On behalf of the school, YAO Yu welcomed the guests. He briefly introduced the HEU's history, development, and construction of the school's four disciplines group. YAO Yu pointed out that regarding subject construction, HEU is good at ship design and construction, and the Russian Federation Ministry of Transport Maritime State University is focused on ship maintenance and use. With this in mind, the two schools complement each other well. In the school area, our school is located in the northeastern region of China, where the Russian Federation Ministry of Transport Maritime State University is located in the far eastern region of Russia. The two sides have similar geographical and convenient transportation. Regarding scientific research conditions, HEU has the best ship, marine equipment, and ship dynamic experimental conditions in China, and the Russian Federation Ministry of Transport Maritime State University is equipped with natural harbor conditions. So the two sides have a good future to strengthen the cooperation, especially in the field of polar development and utilization.


SERGEY A.OGAY said he fully agrees with Yao Yu's view. He pointed out that under the joint efforts of the two heads of state,China-Russia relations have become increasingly close, and the two countries stand at a new starting point in history, which has created a platform and opportunity for in-depth exchange and cooperation between Chinese and Russian universities. SERGEY A.OGAY added that as a result of this visit, he has a better understanding of HEU's discipline characteristics. So both sides will have great opportunities to cooperate in ice ship, ship power, underwater robots and other areas.


The two sides have decided to focus on the areas of each others' interests, on the basis of joint signing the framework agreement, establishing the link between researchers, carrying out targeted joint research, and striving for government support from both sides.


SERGEY A.OGAY also visited the ship model pool laboratory, natural gas fuel engine laboratory, 1.5 level turbine laboratory, ship museum, and had an academic report titled  Innovation Ship In Polar Navigation. SERGEY A.OGAY as well as teachers and  students on the relevant areas, exchanged and discussed ideas.


The Russian Federation Ministry of Transport Maritime State University, founded in 1890, is the first maritime university in Russia to cultivate specialized talents in the fields of navigation, humanities, technology and shipping. It is also the center of maritime education in the Russian Far East, the largest maritime educational institution in the Russian Federation. Its ship power, ship repair, marine ecology, and international maritime law in the Russian maritime areas are more leading, and it has considerable authority in maritime education.
