    I. University ID Card

    1. University ID cards are all issued by the University ID Card Office.

    2. University ID card holders enjoy the reading privileges in library.

    3. The university ID cards of full-time students are all activated automatically.

    4. Other patrons need to activate their cards in person at the "Information & Services Desk" on the 2nd floor of the library building.

    II. Circulation Rules & Privileges

    1. Admission to the library is conditional upon the possession of one's own university ID card. Upon presenting a valid card, patrons can borrow books subject to the library rules.      

    2. All "Borrowing & Reading Stacks" provide lending services. Books of "Sample Books Reading Stacks" & "Periodicals Reading Rooms" can only be read or copied within the library building, and are not for checking out.

    4. How to check out books: Search the online catalogue, find the call no. of the book you want and make sure of its location. (Search Computers are available in the Library Hall (on 2nd floor) and every Borrowing & Reading Stack); Take the book on the openshelves by yourself; Check out the items atthe circulation desk.

    5. Any defect or damage to library materials should be reported to the library staff when it is noticed. Patrons shall be held responsible for any loss or damage of the library materials while in their charge and shall be liable to compensate.

    III. Returns

    1. The patron will need to return the book on or before the due dates. Borrowers are responsible for the returnin good condition of all items.

    2. The "Information & Services Desk" is located at the entrance of the 2nd floor in the library building. All the books that were checked out in different locations from the library should be returned here.

    IV. Holds

    1. If all copies of a book have already been checked out, or the book you want is still on order, then patrons can place a hold on it by their Library Account online.

    2. A reservation notice will be sent to the patron concerned via e-mail once the requested item is available.

    3. The requested book will be kept at the loan stack only for 3 days. Please go to "Information & Services Desk" to get it on time or it will be re-shelved.

    4. How to reserve books: Recommended held books can only be reserved online while "Available Copies" is "Zero". Readers can find the detailed information of the requested book through "OPAC" (on Library Homepage) and must click the "Hold" button and then click the "Perform" button.

    5. Late held pick-ups are recorded up to 3 times (subject to the reservation notice sent by library), privileges of reading and borrowing will be prohibited for 45 days.

    V. Renewals

    1. Books of circulation nature may be renewed online by borrowers provided that no one else has placed holds on the books.

    2. Renewal is allowed only within 10 days before the due date of the checked-out books, and is treated as a continuation of the loan and thus will be subject to recall at any time.

    3. How to renew books: The user may enter the University ID Card No. and password on the Library Homepage to call up his or her personal record and click on the "Renewal" button to indicate which item(s) should be renewed.

    VI. Overdues

    1. A recall notice will be sentto the patron via e-mail. The revised due date will also be displayed on "Overdue Alert" (on Library Homepage).      .

    2. The return alerts are good-will reminders. Patrons hold the responsibility of knowing the library rules and returning library materials on time.

    Our library provides you certain circulation courtesy reminders. All library reminders, such as heldpick-ups, coming dues, and overdues will be sent to readers by e-mails. Please log on the Library Homepage (http://lib.hrbeu.edu.cn/new2007/index.asp), enter your University ID Card No. and default password (the same as "UniversityID Card" no.) to register at "My Library Account" by clicking "Modify Personal Info." and offering a valid e-mail address in time.
