    Heilongjiang iCourse League Hold Meeting at HEU

      On June 21, 2017, the Heilongjiang iCourse league held a meeting at HEU's Qihang Activity Center to boost the iCourse's MOOC project. The Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Education's deputy director general, WANG Shuyun, attended the meeting. There were 130 people from 27 universities in Heilongjiang Province present at the meeting.

      Heilongjiang iCourse league was a community of higher education based on massive open online courses (MOOC). It was formed under the direction of the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Education, and it was promoted by Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), Harbin Engineering University (HEU), Northeast Agricultural University (NEAU), Northeast Forestry University (NEFU), and Heilongjiang University (HLJU). The league, which aims at bringing universities' discipline advantages into full play, was formed by universities from Heilongjiang Province voluntarily. It was guided under the ideas of co-constructing, sharing and all-win, and seeks to promote the construction and use of MOOC, implement the blended teaching method based on MOOC, and accelerate the revolution of higher education as well as promote the quality and equity of education in Heilongjiang Province. The league also desires to elevate the status and influence of universities in Heilongjiang Province.

      HEU's vice president, WU Linzhi, pointed out that the iCourse would be a solution to the problem of the shortage of optional courses in every university by offering more choices for students, and would make sure that every student could have the best courses.

      Deputy Director General WANG praised the efforts made by the league, and encouraged that every university step up to its responsibilities and see iCourse as an essential step for the educational revolution.

      The league's chairman SHEN Yi delivered a report during the meeting. "The Charter of Heilongjiang iCourse League" and "The Grading Criteria of MOOC" was approved during the meeting.

      At the meeting, the league announced the establishment of 10 guiding committees categorized by major, which are Computer Science, Electric Engineering, Mathematics, Cultural Quality Education, Agriculture and Forestry, Humanities and Social Sciences, Economic Management, Medicine and Bioscience, Teacher Education and Geology and Chemical Engineering. Universities in the league would lead the establishment voluntarily.
