From March 20 to 21, Academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering, Head of the Radio Engineering and Telecommunications Systems Department of the Peter the Great Saint-Petersburg Polytechnic University, Professor Makarov, along with the two delegates visited HEU. HEU President YAO Yu met them.
President YAO warmly welcomed Makarov and his delegation and introduced the history, characteristics, and strong points of HEU. He hoped that the two universities would further expand their fields and content of cooperation on the basis of their existing relationship. He focused on strengthening their work together in basic research and application. He also hoped that the two universities would establish joint laboratories, solidify 3-5 cooperation points in such fields as polar communications and small nuclear power reactors, and build strong alliances, making a good job of mechanism building, and actively seeking support from both governments. At the same time, he hoped that the other party can make good use of the Qingdao and Shenzhen Industrial Parks of HEU to carry out the industrialization of Russian scientific and technological achievements.
Professor Makarov briefly introduced Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and the innovative research work of the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University in the fields of outer space, Nano-welding and other fields. Makarov stated that as one of the top 20 universities in Russia, the university hopes to build a joint laboratory with HEU as a platform to strengthen cooperation and maintain the assets of both parties, each in their respective fields. Hopefully by organically combining the basic and applied research of the two sides, they can expedite their joint efforts, and constantly improve the academic level and international reputation of both parties.
During his visit, Professor Makarov had academic communication with some of HEU's young teachers in the Qihang Activity Center's teacher salon. The lecture's content was Thermoelectric generators, nano-welding, new technology's SMARTFOIL, automatic satellite recognition satellite systems, intellegent drone positioning systems, meteor tracking communication systems, design and implementation of SEFDM signal generation and reception algorithms, weather data collection and disaster prediction systems, Parametric automatic electronic measurement systems for ski jumping, and other research directions based on MEMS technology. While here, Professor Makarov also visited the Towing Pool Laboratory, the Key Laboratory of Advanced Marine Power Technology, the Nuclear Power Simulation Research Center, and the Fiber Optic Sensor Laboratory.
HEU's President Assistant YAN Rujian attended the meeting. Relevant persons responsible for the International Office, Scientific Research Institute, Human Resources Office, College of shipbuilding Engineering, College of Power and Energy Engineering, College of shipbuilding Engineering, College of Information and Communication Engineering, Science College, College of Nuclear Science and Technology and College of International Cooperative Education participated in the meeting and communication activities.
