Liu Chen of the School of Aeronautics and Architectural Engineering Won the Second Prize of the National College Student Mathematics Competition

The national finals of the Ninth National College Students Mathematics Competition ended on March 24 at Xi'an Jiaotong University. Liu Chen, a student majoring in engineering mechanics at the School of Aeronautics and Architectural Engineering of HEU, won the second prize of the non-mathematics professional group in the finals.

The competition includes 28 different areas, attracting more than 110,000 excellent students from more than 500 colleges and universities including Peking University and Tsinghua University, just to name a few. The participating colleges and universities cover almost all 985 and 211 colleges and universities. The non-mathematics students enrolled in the finals had a winning rate of 0.0026%.

The National College Student Mathematics Competition is sponsored by the Chinese Mathematical Society. The participants are must be university juniors or seniors. In existence since 2009, it is the highest level of basic mathematics competition for undergraduate students in China. It is one of the most influential discipline competitions and has the largest number of participants in the country. It provides young students a stage for demonstrating basic mathematics and mathematical thinking. Liu Xinwang, ('16), won the second prize and the first prize in the sixth and the seventh competitions respectively. Li Mingkang, ('17), won the second prize in the seventh and the eighth competitions. The good results of students fully demonstrated the excellent teaching results of the basic courses of public mathematics of our school.
