On May 12nd, Yevgeny Truthrikov, President of Ukraine Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding, and his 3-member delegation visited HEU. YAO Yu, President of HEU, met with them. Both parties discussed issues regarding scientific research cooperation in shipbuilding, ship power plants, ship impact and vibration noise and underwater vehicles. They also made an agreement on conducting cooperation by high-level visits, joint research, student cultivation and faculty exchanges.
YAO Yu claimed that HEU and Ukraine Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding have possessed a good foundation of cooperation over the years. Both universities have carried out in-depth bilateral or multilateral cooperation within the framework of ICNAME and have shared a broad prospect of cooperation and exchange in joint research, joint cultivation of candidates for master’s and doctoral degrees, and faculty exchange. YAO voiced his hope that both universities will be able to strengthen cooperation in basic research in ship mechanics, structural mechanics, and experimental mechanics to achieve a fruitful outcome. YAO Yu proposed that based on the talent advantage and accumulation of scientific and technological achievements, both universities can build a joint laboratory or research center where experiments and research could be mutually verified, expanding development space and providing development motivation. This measure will highlight progressiveness, give full consideration to both parties' complementary advantages, and enhance their particularity.
Yevgeny Truthrikov expressed that Ukraine Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding boasts an army of leading international expert teams. In addition to conducting cooperation in the four directions within the framework of ICNAME, Ukraine Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding would strengthen cooperation in basic application research, such as propeller, shock absorption and noise reduction. He also responded positively to the proposed joint construction of a joint laboratory or research center.
During the visit, both parties exchanged opinions on cooperation in education and scientific research. The Ukrainian delegation also attended the 2018 China-Russia-Ukraine Conference on Ship Impact and Vibration Noise. Related leaders of the International Office, College of Science and Technology, and College of Shipbuilding Engineering attended the meeting as well.
