HEU Hosts The 2018 International Advisory Committee on Nuclear Science and Technology Meeting

From July 7th to 8th, HEU hosted the fourth meeting of the first international advisory committee of nuclear science and technology. The Program of Introducing Talents of Discipline to Universities (111 Plan) Academic Master Professor JICHUAN Ronghe, Academician Sum Yufa, Academician LI Jiangang, State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation Chief Engineer WANG Zhongtang and other members attended the meeting.


On behalf of HEU, Vice President GAO Wanxin attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Relevant leaders of the HEU Postgraduate College, the College of Science and Technology, the Human Resource Office, the Development Planning Office, the Undergraduate College, the International Office, relevant responsible people and key teachers of HEU's College of Nuclear Science and Technology attended the meeting.


In his speech, Vice President GAO expressed his gratitude to the International Advisory Committee for its contribution to the development of nuclear science at HEU. He expressed his hope that the committee members would contribute to the future development of nuclear science in terms of personnel training, scientific research and social services.


University of Tennessee former Director of the Department of Nuclear Engineering Professor Dodds reported on the evaluation and feedback after the 2017 visit on behalf of the International Advisory Board. HEU's College of Nuclear Science and Technology Dean Professor Xia Hong introduced the development of the nuclear discipline in the past year.


In the subsequent meeting, the advisory committee held a discussion on the international assessment of nuclear discipline. HEU's Postgraduate College Deputy Dean CHEN Heng introduced Chinese subject assessment. Professor Dodds also introduced the nuclear discipline assessment in the United States. University of Michigan Professor WANG Lumin introduced the nuclear engineering education in Michigan. After the discussion, the Advisory Committee developed a timeline map for the International Discipline Assessment for the College of Nuclear Science and Technology and tentatively determined the date of the 2019 International Assessment.
