Recently, with the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) 750th Test Site at the head, several groups; including HEU, the China National Offshore Oil Deep Sea Development Co., Ltd., and the China Classification Society (CCS) to name a few; jointly participated in the “Engineering Development of Underwater Security Systems, a project of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The success of the 300-meter water depth sea trial on the “Nanhaitiaozhan” semi-submersible platform indicates that China's deep seawater security system has already got the conditions for project implementation, the core equipment also having completed independent intellectual property rights and realized engineering development.
National development and utilization of deep-sea oil and gas resources is subject to complex marine natural environment, busy ocean shipping operations, artificial theft and damage and other factors. In order to prevent and respond to various accidents, the concept of an underwater security system in offshore oil and gas fields has emerged in response to the times. The system can perceive suspicious targets in advance according to preset parameters. When the target enters a limited range, the system can activate the automatic alarm function, detect, locate, identify, record and warn the target activity, and even use the defense mechanism to drive the target from the limited waters manually if necessary, without affecting the normal oil and gas production and operation. Developing an underwater security system for deep-sea oil and gas field structures and underwater production facilities, and improving the level of defense can maximize avoiding the risk of oil leakage, prevent ecological pollution and possible secondary disasters, and effectively protect state interests.
The system integrates radar, infrared, AIS, frogman sonar, underwater television and other detection equipment to form three-dimensional space detection in the air, water, and underwater. The system also realizes automatic and intelligent detection of underwater or surface targets, automatic tracking, identification, and early warning. It is the first time to garner engineering installation and testing on the platform in China.
Vertical pitch electron multibeam sonar is the core equipment of deep-sea underwater security system. In the research and development of this kind of equipment, the research group has become the world leader in adopting a cylindrical array combined with spherical array, which has effectively solved the universal problem that the range of frogman defense sonar's blind area was quite large.
The Underwater Operating Equipment and Technology Institute of HEU's College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering has undertaken research work on key technologies for 3D vision and fault detection. The task is to build a water surface and underwater real-time display system, focusing on multi-channel data interpretation, integrated processing, transmission, and visualization of underwater and surface sensor arrays. And then the azimuth, distance and number of underwater targets can be displayed in a real-time underwater three-dimensional scene. Users can observe and discover the operation and monitoring state of the system more intuitively. More than 10 kinds of faults, the number and location information of the target and the moving state of the underwater security fault monitoring system can be monitored.
In this sea trial, the sub-system developed by HEU has withstood the test of complex underwater environments, complex working conditions, temporary changes of the scheme, etc. With good human-computer interaction, high reliability and stability, it has won the unanimous praise of the research group and made an important contribution to the success of the sea trial.
