HEU Teacher Wins Best Paper Award in Asian Journal of Control

On October 18th, Professor FENG Zhiguang of the College of Automation of our school won the first “Kimura Best Paper Award” from the Asian Journal of Control at the 2018 International Control and Automation System Conference held in Pyeongchang, South Korea.


The award-winning paper was entitled “H∞ Control with Transients for Singular Systems”, which was completed by four scholars, FENG Zhiguang being the first author. The collaborators were Professor LIN Sheng of the University of Hong Kong, Professor XU Shengyuan of Nanjing University of Science and Technology, and Professor ZHOU Shaosheng of Hangzhou University of Electronic Science and Technology. All are outstanding scholars in the field of control. The paper studied the H∞ control problem of singular systems in the non-zero initial state, giving the necessary and sufficient conditions for H∞ performance analysis and the sufficient conditions for the existence of state feedback controllers, theoretically revealing the relationship of the obtained H∞ performance index and standard H∞ performance metrics. The award-winning paper was selected from nearly 400 papers published in the Asian Journal of Control from 2016 to 2017.


The Kimura Best Paper Award (formerly known as the Best Paper Award for the Asian Journal of Control) has been bestowed on worthy writers since 2001. It’s purpose is to reward papers with outstanding contributions and innovation in the field of control science and engineering. In 2018, the award was renamed the Kimura Best Paper Award in honor of the special contribution of Journal’s editor Professor Hidenori Kimura.


Professor FENG Zhiguang, doctoral supervisor, graduated from the University of Hong Kong, majored in Control Systems Engineering, and came to work at HEU in 2017. More than 20 papers written by Professor FENG have been published and included in SCI search papers, including 2 high-cited papers. He has been engaged in research on robust control, singular systems, time-delay systems, fuzzy control, and neural networks.
