School Leaders Survey of Various Colleges to Scrutinize Undergraduate Education and Teaching

From November 30th to December 4th, a team led by school leaders Yao Yu, Xia Guihua and Wu Linzhi conducted a survey of 15 colleges to scrutinize and monitor undergraduate education and teaching. The leaders of the colleges, the heads of academic teams, teachers’ representatives , relevant leaders of the Undergraduate School, the School League Committee, and the Students’ Affairs Office participated in the event.

 

During the survey, the leaders of the colleges reported about the implementation of the spirit of the National Education Conference and Undergraduate Education Work Conference of the National Higher Education Institutions in the New Era. Since the development of undergraduate education, experience and practice has encountered difficulties and required school-related policies. Along with undergraduate education management and teaching practice, the heads of academic teams and teachers’ representatives of various colleges raised the problems which come across during growth of college education. The school leaders responded to the problems reflected by the colleges and provided guidance on issues that need to be resolved jointly by relevant departments.

 

Yao Yu approved the discussion and thought on the implementation of the spirit of the National Education Conference and the improvement of the quality of undergraduate education. He put forward four requirements for undergraduate education teaching and talent training. Firstly, to sum up the good tradition of inheriting the undergraduate teaching work by carrying out discussion forums to improve the teaching quality of undergraduate education, continuously strengthening the construction of teaching and learning style, also focusing on the key areas of talent training, and effectively achieving results. Secondly, to set up a more complete and uniform teaching management system, guiding teachers to actively devote themselves to undergraduate teaching by giving full play to the influence and academic appeal of teachers. Thirdly, in the process of promoting “Double-Class” construction, based on the cultivation of elite talents and the first-class undergraduate education and teaching system; the colleges are encouraged to show their brilliance and strive for the goal by continuously improving the quality of talent training. Fourthly, the colleges should further increase their investment in undergraduate teaching, attaching greater importance to curriculum planning by working together to form a first-class undergraduate education implementation plan, effectively employing the spirit of the National Education Conference and the Undergraduate Education Work Conference of the National Higher Education Institutions in the New Era.
