From December 8th to 9th, the “May 4th Cup”, College Students’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest of 2018 was held at the Qihang Activity Center. The College of Power and Energy Engineering won the “May 4th Cup”. The College of Automation, the College of Underwater Acoustic Engineering, the College of Computer Science and Technology, and the College of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering secured the “Winning Award”. The College of Shipbuilding Engineering, the College of Power and Energy Engineering, the College of Automation, the College of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences won the “Excellent Organization Award”.
The “May 4th Cup” College Students’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest, of 2018 was divided into two categories, the 24th “May 4th Cup” College Student Technological Innovation Competition and the 19th “May 4th Cup” College Student Entrepreneurship Competition. It enticed more than 5,400 participants. Among them, the total number of entries in the Innovation Competition reached 1,206, which demonstrates an annual increase of 16%.While, the number of entries in the Entrepreneurship Competition was 312, accomplishing an annual increase of 22%. In comparison to the previous years, the quality and quantity of the entries have been significantly enhanced.
Since the inauguration of the Innovation Competition in September, a total number of 165 entries have made it to the finals after clearing preliminary scrutiny and evaluation of the colleges and the anonymous reviews. In the Entrepreneurship Competition, a total of 158 projects entered the anonymous review of the school competition and 35 entries from the Creative Group Plan Contest, the Creative Group Charity Contest, and the Startup Group qualified for the finals.
During the recent years, our school has exhibited outstanding conquests in various perspectives through numerous entrepreneurial projects covering different fields and disciplines, may it be Marine antifouling coatings and metal foams or electronic diesel control system and ship sewage system.
