Recently, the China Scholarship Council announced the list of sponsored International Cooperative Training Programs for Innovative Talents in 2019. The list included two programs declared by our school. Which are: “International Cooperative Training Program for Innovative Talents in Marine Power Engineering” and “ International Cooperative Training Program for Innovative Talents in Materials, Chemistry and Mechanics”. Along with that, the International Joint Training Program for Innovative Talents in Ships and Ocean Engineering got approval to further continue implementation.
In 2019, a total of 153 Programs were declared nationwide, 69 new programs were approved, and 23 previous programs were approved for further implementation. Since 2015, our school has been awarded 7 national as well as International Cooperative Training programs for innovative talents and the total number of approved latest programs rank third amongst the national universities.
“International Cooperative and Training Program for Innovative Talents in Marine Power Engineering”, is under the supervision of, Professor Zheng Hongtao, of the College of Power and Energy Engineering. This program collaborates with the University of Leeds, UK and relies on the, “Innovation and Intelligence Base of the Ship Dynamics Department” in order to jointly train outstanding graduate students and young teachers. Who will possess an international vision, mastering cutting-edge knowledge, having high-level basic scientific research capabilities and adapting to the urgent needs of the power industry for long-term development and progress.
“International Cooperative Training Program for Innovative Talents in Materials, Chemistry and Mechanics”, is under the supervision of the program leader, Professor Cao Dianxue, of the College of Materials and Chemistry. In collaboration with Hokkaido University of Japan, the Program has selected and cultivated outstanding graduate students .The program will develop more innovative and rare, compound international talents for basic subjects such as Chemistry, Materials and Mechanics. The International Joint Training Program for Innovative Talents in Marine and Ocean Engineering was approved initially in 2016 by the Ship Academy. It was approved for further implementation in 2019. The Program has sent 8 graduate students to the University of California at Berkeley since past 3 years. It acts as a role model in the development of high-level international talents in postgraduate students.
Since 2014, the China Scholarship Council has established and implemented the, “Innovative Talents International Cooperative Training Program”, aiming to focus on the urgent need of professional fields in national strategies. Thus, positioning the “top, rare” talents while bridging the gaps in international talent training of specific fields.
The number of innovative talents of International Cooperative Training programs continues to grow. The collaboration and exchange between our school and world-class universities will be further accelerated to build an international platform for postgraduate training, enhancing the international standard of our school.
