Professor Zhang Zhijian of HEU Won the “Qian Sanqiang Technology Award”

On July 11, China National Nuclear Corporation’s 2019 Science and Technology Work Conference was held at Beijing. At the meeting, Professor Zhang Zhijian of our school won the 5th “Qian Sanqiang Technology Award” and was applauded by all.

Qian Sanqiang is the key contributor of “Two Bombs, One Satellite” project, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and one of the founders of China’s Nuclear Science and Technology industry. He is known as “the Father of China’s Atomic Energy Science.” In 2010, CNNC established the “Qian Sanqiang Technology Award”, in order to recognize outstanding scientific and technological leaders. It is the highest award given by CNNC to the group’s scientific and technological workers. The awards are given every two years, and no more than five people win each time. Amongst them, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Yu Junchong and Xu Mi, have already won the award. There are three winners this year. Since, the initiation of the award, Professor Zhang Zhijian is the first winner outside the CNNC group. This is the full recognition and high evaluation of CNNC for his contribution to the Nuclear power and safety research.

Zhang Zhijian is a professor at the College of Nuclear Science and Technology of our school and the dean of the Nuclear Safety and Simulation Technology Research Institute of China’s Nuclear Industry. He has long been engaged in the teaching and research of Nuclear safety and simulation. He has won several National and Provincial awards.
