HEU Alumnus, Yang Chunsheng, was Elected Academician for the Canadian Academy of Engineering

On June 13, the 2022 annual meeting of the Canadian Academy of Engineering announced the list of 54 co-opted academicians. Yang Chunsheng, a 1979 alumnus of HEU, was elected as an academician for the Canadian Academy of Engineering.


After the outstanding alumnus Yang Yunchun, a 1988 alumnus of the College of Automation, was selected as the academician for the Russian Academy of Engineering, he became another outstanding alumnus elected as an academician for foreign engineering academies.


At present, Yang Chunsheng is a senior research scientist for the National Research Council of Canada, a researcher of the National Academy of Sciences of Canada, and a visiting professor of Harbin Engineering University.


He is an internationally renowned artificial intelligence researcher who has made significant contributions to machine learning, hybrid reasoning, and intelligent systems in applied AI.


His transformative AI-based prediction and health management technologies are applied to the intelligent maintenance of complex systems in multiple industries such as aerospace, railways, and energy, improving the reliability and availability of complex systems.


Academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering is an honorary title awarded by the federal government of Canada to the representative experts and professors in the field of engineering in Canada.
