Three teachers from HEU win awards in the speech contest of “For 20th CPC National Congress, Heilongjiang province in My Eyes”.

In order to deeply promote the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, fully demonstrate the development achievements of Heilongjiang since the 18th CPC National Congress, tell Chinese stories well and spread the voice of Heilongjiang province, the Foreign Language (Chinese) Speech Contest award ceremony and live performance activity sponsored by the Foreign Affairs Office of Heilongjiang Provincial People’s Government was held in Harbin on March 11th. Zhang Junnan, associate professor of School of Foreign Studies of HEU, won the first prize of English group. Anastasiia, a Ukrainian teacher of School of Foreign Studies, won the second prize of Chinese group. Alina, a Russian teacher of College of Economics and Management, won the third prize of Chinese group.

At the award ceremony, Wu Wenge, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Heilongjiang Provincial People’s Government, delivered a speech. In the live performance held later, the 16 winning representatives spoke in nine languages, including Chinese, English, Russian, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Arabic, and Polish, presenting their views of the beauty and colorful Heilongjiang province from multiple perspectives.

Since the launch of the event in September last year, a total of 148 short video entries have been submitted from 9 cities and regions, including Harbin, Jiamusi, Daqing, Jixi, Shuangyashan, Yichun, Hegang, Heihe and Suihua, as well as 21 universities, provincial foreign affairs offices and some social organizations. Among them, 126 foreign language videos were by Chinese speakers, and 22 were Chinese videos by foreign speakers from 10 countries, including Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, the United States, South Korea, India, Laos, Vietnam, Cameroon, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
