Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the filing and approval results for undergraduate majors in regular institution of higher education in 2022. Two undergraduate majors, "Big Data Management and Application" and "New Energy Materials and Devices", have been approved at Harbin Engineering University. The approved major plans to start enrollment in 2023.
“Big Data Management and Application” is a major that deeply integrates data science with management, economics, and HEU's characteristic specialty of “Shipbuilding Industry, Marine Equipment, Ocean Exploration and Nuclear Application”. It cultivates a group of high-level innovative talents who not only master data technology but also excel in management applications. The major will provide intellectual support for building a digital China and serve the national maritime power strategy and the revitalization strategy of northeast China.
"New Energy Materials and Devices" is a major aimed at the economy and is at the forefront of world science and technology. It fully combines the distinctive advantages of “Shipbuilding Industry, Marine Equipment, Ocean Exploration, and Nuclear Application.' It strengthens the deep cross-integration of disciplines such as materials, chemistry, chemical engineering, energy, environment, and automation. The major organically integrates informatization, intelligence, big data processing, and emerging technologies into the professional talent training mode and focuses on cultivating a group of high-quality composite talent with strong technological innovation ability, engineering practice ability, and international competitiveness in the fields of new energy, new materials, energy storage and conversion.
