On May 6th, the third China Russia Polar Acoustics and Information Technology Forum was held at HEU. Nearly 40 units and over a hundred experts and scholars from China and Russia gathered together to focus on cutting-edge technologies in the field of polar acoustics and information technology in the new era, jointly promoting the construction of the "Ice Silk Road" and polar acoustics research. The Key Laboratory of Polar Ocean Acoustics and Technology Applications of the Ministry of Education was unveiled and established at the forum.
HEU vice president and co-chairman of the forum, YIN Jingwei, delivered a speech. He briefly introduced the historical evolution of HEU, the schools characteristics of "Shipbuilding Industry, Marine Equipment, Ocean Exploration, Nuclear Application", and the achievements in the field of polar scientific research. He said that HEU has conducted extensive and in-depth international cooperation with many internationally renowned universities in the field of ice zone ship technology. HEU has formed a dedicated team, strong technological reserves, and effective co-operation, resulting in a series of important scientific research achievements in China. HEU has become an important driving force for the development of polar equipment technology in China.
Alexander Pinskiy, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of MARINET Industry Center in Russia, delivered an online speech, in which he said today's polar technology is of special significance, and Russia's accelerated Arctic exploration requires more advanced and efficient technological solutions to ensure environmental protection and sustainable development in the region. He hopes that the underwater acoustic technology and underwater robot technology will be fully discussed, the breakthroughs in polar scientific research will be promoted and people will work together to strengthen international cooperation and exchange.
In his speech, Evgeny E. Vlasov, Vice President of the Far Eastern Federal University, stated that The Far Eastern Federal University and Harbin Engineering are both portals of cooperation between China and Russia. For a long time, the two universities have formed a good partnership and achieved remarkable results in joint training of talents and cooperation in the field of engineering technology. The two universities are particularly committed to strengthening cooperation in polar underwater acoustic communication.
Five experts and scholars from China and Russia, including Professor XU Wen from Zhejiang University, and Academician Korochentsev Vladimir from Far Eastern Federal University in Russia, delivered guest keynote speeches. Other attending scholars also shared 28 cutting-edge academic reports, mainly covering the directions and hotspots of polar acoustics research, conducting in-depth discussions on a series of hot topics in polar ocean technology.
