HEU Hosts a Forum on Strategic Scientific and Technological Innovation for Advancing Maritime Power Development

On August 26th, 2023, Harbin Engineering University hosted the Marine Power Strategy Science and Technology Innovation Forum. The forum's central theme was "Mission, Heritage, Innovation, and Development."

The primary objective of the conference was to foster profound collaboration among governmental entities, industries, academic institutions, and research applications. This collaborative effort aimed to fortify the development of national marine strategic scientific and technological capabilities. Furthermore, it sought to enhance the foundational, cutting-edge, and strategic research framework in the maritime sector. The overarching goal was to propel high-level self-sufficiency and advancement in marine technology, while consistently amassing the collective strength required for national defense and prosperity.

The conference's opening ceremony was presided over by Professor YANG Desen, Chairman of the presidium and a distinguished academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).

YAO Yu, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and President of Harbin Engineering University, graced the event and delivered a keynote address.

Speaking on behalf of HEU, YAO Yu expressed heartfelt gratitude to all academicians, experts, and scholars for their enduring care, support, and assistance to the university. He highlighted HEU's identity as a research-oriented institution with distinct industry characteristics, especially in the realm of ship and sea nuclear technology. He emphasized the university's unwavering commitment to enhancing its strategic, foundational, and forward-looking role in this field. By focusing on major scientific challenges and pivotal technological breakthroughs, HEU has provided robust technical backing for research and sustainable advancement in marine equipment sectors such as underwater robotics, ship propulsion, navigation, and underwater acoustic positioning. YAO Yu expressed hope that the assembled experts and scholars would engage in rich exchanges of ideas, kindle sparks of intellectual inspiration, foster consensus on development approaches, and collaboratively infuse fresh momentum, contributing novel insights to the pursuit of maritime supremacy.
