On November 1st, LI Yanrong, the Party Secretary of Northwestern Polytechnical University and a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, led a delegation of eight members to visit Harbin Engineering University (HEU) for research. In attendance were YAO Yu, President of HEU, GAO Wanxin, Deputy Secretary of HEU’s Party Committee, and YIN Jingwei, Vice President of HEU. The meeting facilitated an exchange of information regarding the school's research platforms, campus culture construction, and other related matters.

LI Yanrong and the delegation toured the Fiber Integrated Optics Key Laboratory, a key facility supported by the Ministry of Education. President YAO Yu provided insights into HEU's development history and the ongoing construction of research platforms. He expressed the aspiration to deepen collaboration between HEU and Northwestern Polytechnical University, aiming to inject new impetus into the mutual development of the two institutions.

During the visit, LI Yanrong and the delegation explored the school's research achievements exhibition and the Harbin Military Engineering Institute Museum. They highly praised HEU's accomplishments in talent cultivation and scientific research. LI Yanrong emphasized the deep connection between Northwestern Polytechnical University and the PLA Military Institute of Engineering, stressing the responsibility to uphold and propagate excellent traditions. He expressed a keen interest in fostering increased communication and mutual learning in teaching and scientific research between the two institutions in the future.
