WANG Hongyu, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Social Sciences in Heilongjiang Province, was in attendance. LV Dongshi, a member of the Standing Committee of HEU's Party Committee and Director of the Secretariat for Area Studies at the Ministry of Education, as well as a Member of the Area Studies Discipline Evaluation Group of the Academic Degrees Office of the State Council, and Professor LUO Lin from Beijing Language and Culture University, participated in the forum and delivered speeches. Over 100 experts and scholars from more than 10 universities and research institutes nationwide, along with representatives from academic journals, participated in the event.
LV Dongshi highlighted HEU's commitment to President XI Jinping’s directive of "building a new highland for opening up to the north in China". He announced that HEU had successfully applied for the establishment of an academic exchange base for area studies and research on the opening up to the north strategy in Heilongjiang Province, which had been approved. He emphasized HEU's intention to leverage this opportunity to mobilize research efforts across various domains, delve into area studies comprehensively, play a pivotal role in radiating and driving regional development, and concentrate on revitalizing Northeast China.
LUO Lin congratulated the establishment of the academic exchange base on behalf of the Ministry of Education's Secretariat for Area Studies. He noted that as China actively pursues high-level opening up to the world and deeper engagement in global governance, the national strategy of area studies has gained increasing prominence. He deemed it timely for HEU to integrate various platforms and resources to establish the academic exchange base. LUO Lin acknowledged that the multidisciplinary collaborative development discipline system established by the School of Foreign Studies has laid a robust foundation for the sustainable growth of the academic exchange base.
This think tank forum, guided by the Heilongjiang Provincial Federation of Social Sciences and hosted by HEU, centered around the theme "Area Studies Discipline Development and Integrated Innovation".
