HEU Professor Kano Okamoto Receives Chinese Government Friendship Award

On May 30th, the awarding ceremony for the Chinese Government Friendship Award (supplementary award) took place in Beijing. WANG Xiaoping, Minister of Human Resources and Social Security, presented the Chinese Government Friendship Award medal and certificate to Mr. Kano Okamoto, a specially appointed professor at HEU. Vice Minister of Human Resources and Social Security LI Zhong presided over the ceremony, accompanied by GAO Yan, Secretary of the HEU Party Committee, and relevant unit leaders.

Professor Kano Okamoto is an esteemed international polymer materials scientist, holding positions as a professor at Nagoya University in Japan and Chief Distinguished Professor at HEU's College of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering. He has received prestigious accolades such as the Japan International Prize and the Japan Polymer Society Prize. Additionally, he was twice nominated for the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, in 2006 and 2018. In 2019, Professor Okamoto was honored with the Chinese Government Friendship Award, becoming the first foreign expert at HEU to receive this distinction.
