The 9th Xinghai Forum for International Young Scholars Held at HEU

On July 9th, the 9th Xinghai Forum for International Young Scholars opened at the Qihang Multifunctional Hall of HEU. The ceremony was attended by GAO Yan, Secretary of the University Party Committee; SONG Yingdong, President of HEU; and YANG Desen, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Vice President YU Zhiwen presided over the forum, with Vice President ZHAO Yuxin and Assistant to the President YIN Hang also present. Representatives from 19 academic and research units, national-level young talent representatives, leaders of academic innovation teams, and nearly 3,000 outstanding young scholars from around the world participated in the forum, both in-person and online.

GAO Yan emphasized that the "Xinghai Forum" is a prestigious talent recruitment conference organized by the university, providing a high-level academic exchange platform for outstanding young scholars globally. He expressed hope that the forum would deepen collaboration between young talents and the university.

SONG Yingdong outlined six aspects of HEU's development: its historical evolution, disciplinary system, research platforms, innovation in scientific research, talent cultivation, and service guarantee systems. He highlighted the university's commitment to advancing high-quality development in response to national strategic needs and global technological frontiers, particularly in the Three Seas and One Nuclear fields.

YANG Desen shared insights from the National Science and Technology Conference on the five essential elements necessary to enhance a country's strength in science and technology.

Vice President YU Zhiwen emphasized the university's robust implementation of a new era strategy for talent development, emphasizing that talents are its most valuable resource.

The Xinghai Forum included 19 sub-forums, scheduled to take place across various academic and research units by July 12th.
