On August 25, the inaugural conference for the Strategic Advisory Committee on Shipbuilding and Ocean Engineering Discipline Development was held in the Faculties' Salon of the Qi Hang Activity Center. The event was attended by President SONG Yingdong, former President LIU Zhigang, Vice Presidents HAN Duanfeng, YIN Jingwei, and YU Zhiwen, former Vice President WU Linzhi, and Assistant President GENG Jing of Harbin Engineering University (HEU).
Nineteen academicians, including LI Huajun, HUANG Wei, JIAO Nianzhi, SONG Junqiang, YANG Desen, QIU Zhiming, WEI Yuergang, LIU He, ZHANG Jianmin, WANG Yaonan, LIN Jun, ZHU Guangsheng, XU Qing, TANG Lixin, WANG Juncheng, CHENG Jiecheng, XIN Wanqing, SUN Shengli, and TAO Zhi, offered their insights and recommendations for the development of HEU's Shipbuilding and Ocean Engineering discipline.
On behalf of the university, SONG Yingdong welcomed the participating academicians and expressed gratitude for their long-term support and guidance. He emphasized that, given the current challenges, it is crucial for HEU to address how to advance the Shipbuilding and Ocean Engineering discipline, further highlight its distinctive features, optimize the discipline layout, and support the university’s Double First-Class initiative. He hoped that the academicians would offer valuable advice and provide strategic guidance on issues such as discipline planning, layout, and reform measures. The university would strengthen its organizational leadership, enhance overall planning based on the experts' opinions and suggestions, and improve the management system, operational mechanisms, and support systems to ensure the high-quality development of the discipline.
