On September 7th, YU Lizhong, Vice Mayor of Nantong, Jiangsu Province, and his delegation visited Harbin Engineering University (HEU) to explore opportunities for deeper cooperation in integrating scientific and technological innovation with industrial development, as well as enhancing collaboration between education and industry. YIN Jingwei, Vice President of HEU, attended the meeting.

YIN warmly welcomed the mayor and his delegation on behalf of HEU, expressing sincere gratitude for Nantong City's long-term support of the university's growth. He noted that after 70 years, HEU has developed distinctive strengths in “three ocean-related fields and one core application,” excelling in marine intelligent vehicles, marine power, marine information technology, marine new energy equipment, and polar equipment. HEU aims to establish a strategic partnership with Nantong City, integrating its diverse strengths in innovation and talent training with Nantong’s maritime industry to jointly promote technological advancements that lead to industrial innovation.

YU Lizhong highlighted that the shipbuilding and marine engineering equipment industry is one of Nantong’s six key sectors. Nantong serves as the core city of the national advanced manufacturing cluster for shipbuilding and marine engineering, boasting significant advantages in industrial scale, core supporting facilities, and assembly and construction. He emphasized that the strategic cooperation between the city and HEU will provide strong momentum for the development of the marine economy in Nantong, the Yangtze River Delta region, and across the country.
