On September 20th, GUI Wenbin, Director of the 712 Research Institute at China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited, visited Harbin Engineering University (HEU) for research and discussions. HEU President SONG Yingdong and Vice President HAN Duanfeng participated in the meeting. Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on scientific research collaboration and talent cultivation.
SONG Yingdong warmly welcomed GUI Wenbin and his delegation, offering a brief overview of HEU’s strengths, academic programs, research initiatives, and talent development efforts. He highlighted that HEU shares a strong foundation of scientific collaboration and closely aligned research goals with the 712 Research Institute. He expressed that both sides would further enhance their cooperation between academia and industry, focusing on key areas and major projects aimed at developing innovative technologies. Together, they would plan and explore new areas of collaboration, expand joint efforts, and work to nurture outstanding, innovative talent to promote the digitalization, intelligent transformation, and green development of the shipbuilding industry.
GUI Wenbin provided a brief introduction to the history, significant achievements, and innovative capabilities of the 712 Research Institute. He emphasized the institute's solid track record of cooperation with HEU and pointed out their complementary strengths and shared research priorities. He noted that both sides could leverage their respective advantages to expand cooperation in shipbuilding and maritime fields, particularly in response to national needs in areas such as new materials and new energy. He stressed the importance of strengthening the integration of industry, academia, and research to drive innovation and contribute to the high-quality development of China’s shipbuilding industry.
GUI Wenbin and his delegation also visited the PLA Military Engineering Institute Museum and toured relevant HEU laboratories.
