On October 31, 2024, the China Ocean Economy Exposition opened in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. As one of the key exhibitors, Harbin Engineering University (HEU) showcased 41 of its latest technological achievements, all aimed at advancing the new marine economy through digital intelligence.
Sun Shuxian, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Director of the National Marine Bureau; Zhang Shaokang, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province; and Lei Bo, Director of the South China Sea Branch of the Ministry of Natural Resources, attended the exhibition. Han Duanfeng, Vice President of HEU, was also present and provided an introduction to the university's exhibition booth.
HEU’s booth featured sections on intelligent unmanned vehicles, marine robots, marine navigation, ship vibration and noise reduction, marine new materials, and ship industrial software. These sections showcased 41 cutting-edge technological achievements through both physical exhibits and multimedia presentations.
The displayed technologies spanned the entire lifecycle—from design to manufacturing and maintenance—highlighting HEU’s strengths in interdisciplinary research, talent development, and integrating education with industry in the maritime sector. The exhibition drew enthusiastic responses from visitors.
A special section was dedicated to the Qingdao Innovation and Development Base, showcasing its current development and construction progress. Additionally, innovative products and achievements from alumni-owned enterprises were featured, underscoring HEU’s influence and role in talent cultivation within the shipbuilding and marine industries.
Throughout the exhibition, HEU’s research teams and relevant departments engaged in in-depth discussions with several organizations, including China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) and China Communications Construction Corporation (CCCC). These discussions led to preliminary agreements on cooperation and technology transfer, which will help accelerate the implementation of HEU’s mature scientific and technological achievements.
