
On December 10th, Harbin Engineering University (HEU) hosted the founding ceremony of the Deep-Sea Unmanned Equipment Industry Alliance, alongside a forum on the new quality of productivity in alumni-driven economic development. More than 150 participants attended the event, including representatives from Sanya City and Hainan Province, enterprises and institutions involved in deep-sea technology, and alumni enterprises from across China. HEU President SONG Yingdong attended the forum, while Vice President HAN Duanfeng presided over the alliance’s establishment ceremony.

President SONG Yingdong emphasized that the formation of the Deep-Sea Unmanned Equipment Industry Alliance marks a pivotal step in implementing the cooperation agreement signed between the Torch High-Tech Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Hainan Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, the Sanya Municipal Government, and HEU.The university plans to leverage its academic expertise and integrate resources from scientific innovation, talent cultivation, and alumni networks to drive the development of high-end deep-sea equipment industries. This initiative aims to support the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port.

HE Shigang, Vice Mayor of the Sanya Municipal Government, expressed strong support for the university’s role within the Science and Technology City. He pledged to facilitate the implementation of cooperation projects and the operation of research platforms in deep-sea technology, aiming to create a top-tier business environment. Additionally, he committed to providing comprehensive support for collaboration among universities, research institutes, and enterprises.

Vice President HAN Duanfeng highlighted that HEU would work closely with all stakeholders to advance scientific innovation, translate research outcomes into practical applications, and cultivate highly skilled professionals in marine engineering. This collective effort will help drive the innovative development of intelligent deep-sea equipment technology and industry.

ZHANG Qingyuan, Chairman of the Alumni Enterprise Alliance of Harbin Engineering University, stated that the alliance would actively contribute to the development of deep-sea unmanned equipment industries by leveraging corporate technological and market resources.

The Deep-Sea Unmanned Equipment Industry Alliance focuses on the research and development of unmanned equipment technologies. By gathering resources from science and technology, industry, talent, and education, the alliance aims to connect the education and talent pipelines with industrial and innovation chains. This approach will foster the innovative growth of the deep-sea unmanned equipment industry.

During the ceremony, plaques were unveiled for the Hainan Sub-center of the National Key Laboratory of Intelligent Marine Vehicle Technology, the Hainan Sub-center of the National Key Laboratory of Underwater Acoustic Technology, and the Global Alumni Development Service Center of the Alumni Enterprise Alliance of Harbin Engineering University (Sanya).

Nine companies, including Hainan Sound Science Deep Blue Ocean Technology Co., Ltd., Hainan Water Voice Ocean Technology Co., Ltd., and Hainan AIRO Technology Co., Ltd., became the first batch of enterprises to join the deep-sea intelligent equipment industry innovation platform. These companies also signed cooperation agreements with the South China Sea Research Institute of Harbin Engineering University.

Experts and scholars from the Institute of Deep-sea Science and Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the National Key Laboratory of Intelligent Marine Vehicle Technology, the Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City Administration, iFLYTEK Co., Ltd., and Hainan Sound Science Deep Blue Ocean Technology Co., Ltd. delivered keynote speeches. Topics included the development of deep-sea equipment technology, polar ice-underwater unmanned submersibles (AUVs), ocean acoustic technology in the era of deep learning, and opportunities and industrial integration in the deep-sea sector. These presentations showcased cutting-edge research and the latest industry developments.
