The Annual Report on International Citation of Chinese Academic Journals has recently been published, recognizing the Journal of Marine Science and Application (the English edition of the Journal of Harbin Engineering University) as an “Outstanding Academic Journal with International Influence in China” for the eighth consecutive year.

This Annual Report assesses the international citations of Chinese journals, utilizing global citation data to identify both the “Most Internationally Influential Academic Journals in China” and the “Outstanding Academic Journals with International Influence in China.” Over the past 13 years, this evaluation system has become widely recognized among academic publishers and research institutions. It has established itself as a key reference tool for assessing the global impact of academic journals, helping elevate Chinese journals on the international stage, foster academic branding, and bolster cultural confidence.

Published jointly by Harbin Engineering University and Springer Nature, the Journal of Marine Science and Application is indexed in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI). In 2024, the journal received support under the second phase of the “China Scientific Journals Excellence Action Plan.” It was recognized as a Q1 journal in the field of ship and marine engineering in the World Journal Impact Index Report. Additionally, it was included in the Classification Directory of High-Quality Scientific Journals by the China Association for Science and Technology, earning a T2 rating in both ship science and earth science. According to the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) by Web of Science, the journal ranks 10th among 25 journals in the "Engineering, Marine" category, placing it in the Q2 quartile.
