On January 15, the "Green, Zero-Carbon, Digital Intelligence, Power" Maritime Technology Forum was held at Harbin Engineering University (HEU), marking the official inauguration of the Carbon Neutrality Institute and the Ship Digital & Intelligent Technology Institute. President SONG Yingdong attended the forum and delivered a keynote address.

Academician XUAN Yimin from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician LI Jiangang from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, HAN Jinhua, Deputy Director of the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology, as well as representatives from key industry associations such as the Chinese Internal Combustion Engine Society and the China Shipbuilding Engineering Society, participated in the event. The forum also saw the attendance of research institutes from China Shipbuilding Group and experts from prestigious universities including Tsinghua University, Tianjin University, and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. In total, over 60 institutions and more than 100 attendees were present.

In his speech, President SONG Yingdong emphasized that the establishment of the Carbon Neutrality Institute and the Ship Digital & Intelligent Technology Institute—along with other innovative platforms—aims to drive technological breakthroughs, overcome key challenges hindering industrial development, and enhance the strategic technological capabilities of the maritime and nuclear sectors. He also highlighted the university’s goal to foster a new model for the integration of industry, academia, research, and application, accelerating the transformation of research outcomes into productive industrial solutions.

HAN Jinhua expressed her hope that Harbin Engineering University would continue to take a leading role in the integrated development of education, technology, and talent. She encouraged the university to accelerate the transformation of its research achievements into tangible productivity, thereby contributing to the revitalization of Heilongjiang Province's industrial sector.

The forum was hosted by Vice President YIN Jingwei.

LIU Zhigang, Director of the Carbon Neutrality Institute; LI Shusheng, Secretary-General of the Chinese Internal Combustion Engine Society; WANG Junli, Secretary-General of the China Shipbuilding Engineering Society; Academician HUANG Zhen from the Chinese Academy of Engineering; and Academician ZHENG Nanfeng from the Chinese Academy of Sciences all congratulated the two institutes on their establishment during their speeches.

Following the speeches, SONG Yingdong and LIU Zhigang unveiled the Carbon Neutrality Institute, while HAN Jinhua and XIA Guihua, Director of the Ship Digital & Intelligent Technology Institute, unveiled the Ship Digital & Intelligent Technology Institute.

During the event, the university signed school-enterprise cooperation agreements with several companies, including:

Experts and scholars from the maritime and energy sectors delivered five insightful keynote speeches and presented four specialized reports, engaging in vibrant discussions on cutting-edge issues and research developments in their respective fields.
