On January 17, LIU Junlong, Deputy Mayor of Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang Province, visited Harbin Engineering University (HEU) to discuss research opportunities and collaboration. GAO Yan, the university's Party Secretary; LI Rongsheng, Deputy Party Secretary; and YIN Hang, Assistant to the President, participated in the meeting. The discussions focused on enhancing university-local partnerships, talent development and recruitment, and advancing the application of scientific and technological innovations.

GAO Yan warmly welcomed the visiting delegation and expressed his appreciation for the continued support that Mudanjiang city has extended to the university's growth. He noted the strong foundation for collaboration between the university and the city, emphasizing the potential for future partnerships in areas such as new materials and smart agriculture. GAO underscored the importance of resource sharing, leveraging complementary strengths, fostering talent development, and expanding research collaboration. He further stressed the need to apply high-quality research outcomes in Mudanjiang to drive innovation and strengthen the integration of industry, academia, and research, ultimately boosting the economic and social development of Heilongjiang Province.

LIU Junlong outlined Mudanjiang's resource advantages and its development prospects. He pointed out that since the cooperation agreement between the city and the university was signed in 2021, the partnership has grown stronger, yielding significant results. LIU expressed his commitment to deepening the collaboration by aligning with the practical needs of local industries. He highlighted the importance of developing technology transformation platforms and innovation service platforms to support industrial incubation and talent mobility. LIU assured that Mudanjiang would continue to provide excellent services, enhance coordination between the city and the university, and strengthen ties with enterprises to promote the high-quality economic and social development of Heilongjiang Province.

During the meeting, the head of the university’s Asset Management Company presented an overview of HEU’s efforts in technology transfer and industrialization.

Prior to the meeting, LIU Junlong and his delegation visited the Harbin Military Engineering Memorial Hall and the university's science and technology exhibition.

Representatives from HEU's Human Resources Department, Asset Management Company, and Scientific Research Institute also participated in the discussions.
