
A delegation led by Yantai City Mayor ZHENG Deyan visited Harbin Engineering University (HEU) for a research-focused exchange. HEU President SONG Yingdong attended and delivered a speech, while Vice President HAN Duanfeng chaired the meeting. Assistant Presidents YIN Hang and CHEN Hailong also participated. The meeting featured in-depth discussions on strengthening collaboration in talent development, scientific research, and platform growth.

President SONG Yingdong welcomed Mayor ZHENG Deyan and his delegation, expressing appreciation for Yantai City's ongoing support of the university. He emphasized the strong foundation for cooperation between HEU and Yantai City. SONG highlighted HEU’s commitment to leveraging its strengths in nuclear energy applications, nuclear power development, and marine engineering equipment, with the goal of enhancing collaboration in technological innovation, talent development, and platform expansion. He proposed expanding the scope of cooperation, deepening existing partnerships, and exploring new models of industry-education integration to create benchmarks that support industrial development.

Mayor ZHENG Deyan provided an overview of Yantai City’s resource advantages and development potential. He expressed optimism that both parties, through complementary strengths, could foster comprehensive cooperation in areas such as nuclear energy applications, marine engineering, commercial aerospace, and new energy. He also called for the establishment of a regular and institutionalized contact mechanism to infuse new momentum into economic and social development.
