Recently, Harbin Engineering University (HEU) announced the renaming of the journal Applied Science and Technology to Computing, following approval by the National Press and Publication Administration. The journal has also been assigned the domestic unified serial publication number CN23-1624/TP. Computing is supervised by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, sponsored by HEU, and guided by the China Computer Federation. It will now serve as the official journal of the China Computer Federation.
Founded in 1974, Applied Science and Technology was a core Chinese science and technology journal, recognized for its contributions to several specialized fields, including Ship and Ocean Engineering, Nuclear Science and Technology, and Modern Electronic Technology. The journal has garnered considerable success in promoting new technological applications. Over the years, it has received numerous honors, including the "First Heilongjiang Province Publishing Excellence Project Award," "Characterized Science and Technology Journal of Chinese Universities," and "Excellent Science and Technology Journal of Chinese Universities." It has been widely praised by both the industry and a large readership. This transformation reflects an important step toward adapting to evolving disciplinary trends and market demands. With the launch of Computing, the journal aims to enhance its academic quality, support the development of the information science field at HEU, and contribute significantly to advancing research disciplines and elevating educational standards.

At the 2024 China Computer Federation Award Ceremony, Vice President YU Zhiwen, representing HEU, signed a framework agreement for the joint publication of Computing with the China Computer Federation.
