On March 18, WANG Changgang, the Mayor of Penglai District in Yantai City, led a delegation on a visit to Harbin Engineering University (HEU) to explore potential research collaborations. During the visit, the two parties engaged in in-depth discussions focused on enhancing talent development and advancing scientific and technological innovation. HEU's Vice President, YIN Jingwei, attended the meeting.

YIN Jingwei warmly welcomed Mayor Wang and his delegation, providing an overview of HEU’s history, academic strengths, and its contributions to regional economic development. He highlighted the university's efforts to leverage its unique advantages and establish a strong partnership with Yantai City. Looking ahead, YIN expressed his hope that both sides would focus on marine engineering, talent cultivation, and the integration of industry, education, and scientific research, working together to foster further contributions to the region’s economic and social growth.

Mayor WANG Changgang outlined the geographic and industrial advantages of Penglai District, emphasizing the area’s development plans. He noted that Penglai is actively working to build a robust marine economy, with strengths in fields such as ship and ocean engineering, as well as wind power—sectors that align closely with HEU’s academic focus. WANG expressed his desire for deeper and more extensive cooperation between the two sides in areas like scientific innovation, talent development, and infrastructure building, with the aim of achieving mutual benefits and fostering coordinated growth.

Before the meeting, Chen Hailong, Assistant to the President of HEU, accompanied Mayor Wang and his delegation on a tour of the Memorial Hall of the Military Engineering Institute of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, followed by a visit to the Scientific and Technological Achievements Exhibition.
