On April 16, HEU hosted the "International Chinese Language Day—Global Cultural Fair" Traditional Chinese Bazaar, drawing a large crowd of both Chinese and international students who gathered to celebrate this cultural event.

DENG Xiaoming, Vice Dean of the College of International Cooperative Education, emphasized that International Chinese Language Day serves as a vital link for cultural exchange and a significant platform for promoting Chinese culture globally. "The Traditional Chinese Bazaar offers an immersive experience that allows the allure of Chinese culture to transcend borders," she noted. "We hope that through the Chinese language and culture, students from diverse backgrounds can foster mutual understanding and contribute to building a community with a shared future for humanity."

At the event, students had the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities with guidance from folk artists and intangible cultural heritage practitioners. They learned traditional crafts, such as making hairpins and mother-of-pearl bracelets. While initially inexperienced, the participants quickly became absorbed in the activities, developing a deeper appreciation for the warmth and creativity embedded in China’s traditional handicrafts.

As students enjoyed authentic Chinese cuisine, they marveled at the timeless appeal of China’s culinary heritage. In addition, they had the chance to play traditional musical instruments, connecting with the emotions and wisdom of Chinese civilization across centuries. By wearing traditional attire, they gained insight into the cultural significance and identity woven into each garment.

The cultural performance segment brought the event to a powerful climax. Enchanting performances, including classical dance and Guqin solos, elicited enthusiastic applause and cheers from the audience. International students eagerly captured these memorable moments, documenting their experiences through photos and videos on their mobile devices.

The success of the "International Chinese Language Day—Global Cultural Fair" Traditional Chinese Bazaar provided an invaluable opportunity for Chinese and international students to explore Chinese culture and build new connections. It also sparked a renewed interest in learning the Chinese language while promoting cross-cultural understanding and integration. The event proved to be a powerful bridge for fostering meaningful cultural exchanges between China and the world.
