Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the approval results of Sino-foreign cooperative education programs for 2023 and 2024. Harbin Engineering University (HEU)’s undergraduate program in Electronic Information Engineering, jointly offered with the University of Aberdeen in the UK, has successfully received approval. This further optimizes the layout of our high-level Sino-foreign cooperative education programs, which now cover four general disciplines.

Building on the success of the previous Sino-foreign cooperative program in Civil Engineering, HEU and the University of Aberdeen began discussions in March 2022 to collaborate on a program in Electronic Information Engineering. After repeated negotiations, the two institutions reached a consensus on the joint program. The newly approved initiative combines the strengths of both universities in the field of electronic information, jointly designs the training plan, and innovates the curriculum system. It aims to cultivate high-level, international, innovative talents in electronic information engineering for the future.

The University of Aberdeen, founded in 1495, is a prestigious institution with a long history and is the fifth oldest university in the English-speaking world. It has produced five Nobel laureates in its history and ranks 12th in the UK according to The Guardian University Guide 2025. Leveraging their respective strengths in information communication, signal processing, audio-visual processing, and telecommunications software, the two universities will collaborate to cultivate international, interdisciplinary, and innovative talents.
