Harbin Engineering University Holds Its 48th Track and Field Sports Meet

On May 24, Harbin Engineering University (HEU) hosted its 48th Track and Field Sports Meet at the North Stadium. The opening ceremony was attended by GAO Yan, Secretary of the CPC HEU Committee; Deputy Party Secretaries YAO Zhen, ZHANG Shimei, and LI Rongsheng; and LV Kaidong, Director of the Publicity Department. The event was officially opened by LI Rongsheng, who also served as the ceremony’s host.

Twenty-five delegations representing various colleges and faculty groups participated in a formal procession, marching past the reviewing stand in orderly and spirited formations. Each team highlighted its academic strengths and educational mission through creative props, banners, and slogans, demonstrating strong team spirit and vitality. Their efforts contributed to a vibrant and inclusive athletic atmosphere throughout the campus.

Following a solemn flag-raising ceremony, LI Rongsheng formally declared the 48th Track and Field Sports Meet open.

In his remarks, GAO Yan underscored the university’s commitment to integrating sports with education. He emphasized the continued development of the “Smart Sports” platform and pledged to enhance athletic services to benefit faculty and students. GAO encouraged all participants to embrace physical activity as a source of enjoyment, health, personal growth, and mental resilience.

WANG Zirou took the oath on behalf of the referees, while GAO Yu’ang did so for the athletes. LIU Tie, head of the Sportsmanship Award Committee, outlined the evaluation criteria for the Sportsmanship Award. With these formalities completed, the competitions officially began.

At the conclusion of the meeting, LI Rongsheng presented awards to the top eight undergraduate teams based on their overall scores

In the men’s student category, the School of Economics and Management, the College of Power and Energy Engineering, and the College of Nuclear Science and Technology earned the top three positions. For the women’s student category, the Sino-Foreign Joint College/Future Technology Institute, the College of Information and Communication Engineering, and the College of Computer Science and Technology placed first through third. The overall top three undergraduate teams were the College of Information and Communication Engineering, the College of Shipbuilding Engineering, and the Sino-Foreign Joint College/Future Technology Institute.

Among faculty teams, the Logistics Group, the CPC Committee of University Administration Offices, and the College of Underwater Acoustic Engineering secured the top three rankings. In the postgraduate category, the Yantai Research Institute, the College of Computer Science and Technology, and the College of Information and Communication Engineering were the top performers.

Notably, the ADDO team from the International College set a new faculty men’s 200-meter record with a time of 25.17 seconds, while JI Hongliang from the Logistics Group established a new faculty men’s 800-meter record at 2:14.62.

Ten colleges, including the College of Shipbuilding Engineering, received the Sportsmanship Award, recognizing their exemplary conduct and team spirit. Additionally, twenty students, including HAN Linpei, were honored as Outstanding Athletes of the Meet.
