On June 23, 2025, Harbin Engineering University (HEU) hosted the graduation ceremony and degree conferral for the Class of 2025 at the North Stadium. In the presence of faculty, mentors, and family members, a total of 3,706 undergraduate students, 3,626 master’s students, and 283 doctoral students were awarded their degrees. The graduates celebrated this momentous occasion with the traditional turning of tassels and group photos, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey at HEU.

Notable attendees included GAO Yan, Party Secretary of HEU; President SONG Yingdong; Academician YANG Desen, a professor at the College of Underwater Acoustics Engineering and member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Vice Presidents HAN Duanfeng and YIN Jingwei; Deputy Party Secretary YAO Zhen; Vice Presidents YAN Rujian and ZHAO Yuxin; Director of the Publicity Department LV Kaidong; and Assistant Presidents YIN Hang, GENG Jing, and CHEN Hailong. Deputy Party Secretary LI Rongsheng presided over the ceremony.


During the event, HEU leadership and faculty members collectively conferred degrees, turned tassels, and took commemorative photos with the graduates.

In his address, President SONG Yingdong commended the graduates for their growth, innovative spirit, and dedication to research during their time at HEU. He highlighted their contributions to the university’s 70th anniversary celebration and its ongoing high-quality development. President SONG assured the graduates that HEU would always be a source of support, referring to the university as “the wind beneath their wings, a harbor for their hearts.” He emphasized that no matter how far they travel or how much time passes, they will always be welcomed back to their alma mater.

Vice President ZHAO Yuxin officially announced the graduation and degree conferral decisions.

Vice President HAN Duanfeng revealed the recipients of the Heilongjiang Provincial Outstanding Graduate Award, HEU Outstanding Graduate Award, and Graduation Honor Roll.

Deputy Party Secretary LI Rongsheng also read the names of those honored with the “My Favorite Teacher” and “The Warmest Person Around Graduates” awards.

On behalf of the faculty, Professor DUAN Wenyang from the College of Shipbuilding Engineering delivered an inspiring speech.

ZHANG Yi, a distinguished alumna from the Class of 2008 in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, who is now a Senior Engineer at the National Deep Sea Base Management Center and one of China’s first female deep-sea pilots, addressed the graduates. She encouraged them to remain resilient in the face of challenges, to stay composed during adversity, and to transform setbacks into opportunities for growth. She urged them to remain focused on their life goals and to continue striving for excellence.

The ceremony concluded with the entire graduating class, led by student ZHANG Jingdan, taking a solemn oath. The event was officially closed with a performance of the Harbin Engineering University anthem.
