The 11th National Undergraduate Mechanical Innovation Competition, also known as the Materials Heat Treatment Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, recently concluded its national finals at Xi’an University of Technology.

Students from Harbin Engineering University’s (HEU) College of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering delivered exceptional results, with nine teams advancing to the finals and securing two National First Prizes, two Second Prizes, and two Third Prizes.

The competition, organized by the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society and co-hosted by its Heat Treatment Branch and Xi’an University of Technology, set a new record this year, attracting 2,235 teams from 219 universities across the country.

To ensure success, the College of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering at HEU established a 10-member faculty mentoring team, which provided intensive training, guided project refinement, and facilitated simulated Q&A sessions. The students impressed judges with their profound expertise, refined presentations, and outstanding defense performances.
Looking ahead, the College of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering plans to continue leveraging such competitions to enhance teaching and learning, further integrating innovation and entrepreneurship into practical education. This approach aims to cultivate talent and contribute to the university’s academic mission.
