On August 3, the Fifth Northeast China Conference on Industry-Academia Cooperation in Computer Science Development 2025, alongside the Symposium on Deep Integration of Party Building with Core Work in Computer Science Schools of Northeast Universities, was held at the university. Vice President YU Zhiwen of Harbin Engineering University (HEU) and Vice President LIU Ting of Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) attended and delivered speeches.

YU Zhiwen highlighted HEU’s commitment to its distinctive “SMON” (shipbuilding industry, marine equipment, ocean exploration, and nuclear energy application) educational focus, closely aligning with major national strategic needs to advance education development, technological innovation, and talent cultivation in an integrated manner. He expressed hope that the Northeast China Conference on Industry-Academia Cooperation in Computer Science Development would serve as a platform to jointly discuss the development of disciplinary clusters, contributing wisdom and strength to the comprehensive revitalization of Northeast China.

LIU Ting noted that HIT, as one of the founding institutions of the Northeast Conference on Industry-Academia Cooperation in Computer Science Development, has witnessed the conference’s growth and contributed to the resurgence of Northeast China’s traditional industrial base. He stated the hope to join hands with peer universities and enterprises in the future to make new and greater contributions to promoting the comprehensive revitalization of Northeast China, serving national development, and achieving national rejuvenation.
Participating experts delivered keynote reports on cutting-edge advancements in fields such as artificial intelligence, big data, and AI technology.
During the Dean’s Roundtable Forum, representatives of computer-related disciplines from various universities engaged in in-depth discussions on the topic “Breaking Stagnation and Achieving Breakthroughs: Computer Schools in Northeast China Universities”.

The Northeast China Conference on Industry-Academia Cooperation in Computer Science Development (NECCIA) was jointly initiated in April 2021 by the Faculty of Computing at HIT, the College of Computer Science and Technology at Jilin University, the College of Computer Science and Engineering at Northeastern University, and the School of Computer Science and Technology at Dalian University of Technology. It focuses on themes including the construction of computing discipline clusters in Northeast China, frontier technology development in computer science, industry-academia collaborative talent cultivation, and transformation of scientific research results. The conference aims to foster complementary advantages and resource sharing among universities and technology enterprises in the computer field within Northeast China, enhance the level of computer science disciplines, strengthen talent cultivation, promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and support the comprehensive revitalization of Northeast China.
