On August 30, Harbin Engineering University (HEU) successfully hosted the Specialized Matchmaking Event on Aerospace New Materials. Attendees included TAN Qunyu, Second-Level Inspector of the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Heilongjiang Province; ZHANG Xing, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Jiangsu Province; and CHEN Hailong, Assistant to the President. Each delivered keynote remarks.

In his address, CHEN Hailong introduced the university’s historical legacy and distinctive academic strengths. He highlighted HEU’s significant achievements in new materials research in recent years, particularly in ultra-lightweight, high-strength composite materials, which are increasingly applied in aerospace, marine engineering, and related industries.

These advances have reinforced HEU’s position as a leader in technological innovation. He expressed confidence that the matchmaking event would strengthen collaboration between the university and enterprises from Jiangsu and Heilongjiang, further integrating the “industry–university–research–application” chain and accelerating the translation of scientific and technological achievements. Looking ahead, he emphasized HEU’s commitment to leveraging its interdisciplinary strengths and talent pool to develop into a hub for aerospace new materials innovation.

TAN Qunyu underscored the pivotal role of the aerospace new materials sector as a foundation for aerospace development. He expressed the hope that the event would serve as a platform to connect research in new materials with leading aerospace enterprises and academic institutions, enabling collaboration in R&D, project partnerships, and industrial chain integration to achieve resource sharing and complementary advantages.

ZHANG Xing noted that the event provides an important opportunity to deepen cooperation between Jiangsu and Heilongjiang in aerospace new materials. He emphasized that by bringing together government, industry, and research institutions, the two provinces can establish a cross-regional collaborative innovation platform. Such a platform, he said, would accelerate the development of an end-to-end cooperation mechanism—from R&D to commercialization—ensuring closer alignment between industrial and innovation chains and helping to translate more laboratory breakthroughs into industrial applications.
