On September 3, XU Mingxuan, Director of the Special Aircraft Research Institute under China Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC), led a delegation to Harbin Engineering University (HEU) for a research visit. President SONG Yingdong attended the meeting, while Vice President YIN Jingwei presided over the discussion. Both sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on enhancing cooperation in scientific research and talent cultivation.
SONG Yingdong introduced the HEU’s historical development and its distinctive disciplinary strengths in shipbuilding industry, marine equipment, ocean exploration, and nuclear energy application (“SMON” in short”). He emphasized that HEU and the Special Aircraft Research Institute share common origins and aligned goals. He expressed his hope that this exchange would serve as a significant opportunity for both sides to further break down disciplinary barriers and establish deeper, broader collaboration in joint cutting-edge technological research, industry-education integration, innovation synergy, and the supply-demand matching of high-quality talents.
XU Mingxuan provided a brief overview of the general situation of the Special Aircraft Research Institute. He noted that Harbin Engineering University, as a benchmark institution in China’s higher education in shipbuilding, marine engineering, and nuclear science, possesses a profound heritage and distinctive characteristics. Over the years, it has supplied a large number of high-quality talents to the national defense technology industry and resolved key technological challenges, making outstanding contributions. He stressed that both sides should use this visit as a starting point to deepen practical cooperation in areas such as joint key technology research, collaborative breakthroughs in basic research, and the joint cultivation of high-level talents.
During the visit, XU Mingxuan and his delegation toured the Harbin Military Memorial Hall, learning about its development journey in serving national strategies. This further strengthened consensus for future in-depth cooperation between the two parties.
