On September 6, Harbin Engineering University (HEU) held its Alumni Conference on High-Quality Development and the inauguration of the Heying Alumni Association in the Sunshine Hall of the Qihang Activity Center. The event was attended by President SONG Yingdong, who delivered the keynote speech, along with Vice President HAN Duanfeng and Assistant President YIN Hang.

In his speech, President SONG emphasized that HEU’s alumni are its most valuable asset and a key driving force behind its continued development. HEU is committed to supporting its alumni throughout their lifelong journey, offering tailored, smart, and personalized initiatives that foster long-term connections with the university. The creation of the Heying Alumni Association marks an innovative step in leveraging alumni expertise within the nuclear industry, establishing a platform for resource sharing, mutual empowerment, and collaborative progress.

Representatives from both Harbin Shipbuilding Engineering Institute and HEU alumni made generous donations to their alma mater.

CUI Chao, representing the alumni of the PLA Military Engineering Institute, presented HEU with a commemorative plaque inscribed with the phrase: “Carrying Forward the Spirit of the PLA Military Engineering Institute.”

The conference also marked the official launch of the university’s First Alumni Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.

During the event, the approval for the establishment of the Heying Alumni Association was officially announced. President SONG presented the association’s flag and issued appointment certificates to its key members.

YANG Xiaofeng, chair of the Heying Alumni Association, delivered a keynote report on significant developments within the nuclear industry. He highlighted the contributions of HEU alumni within the nuclear supply chain and outlined future strategic directions for the industry.

The event featured a poetry recital, “Originating from the Nuclear”, performed jointly by alumni and current students.

In a special tribute, the Heying Alumni Association paid floral homage to retired faculty members, honoring their contributions to HEU.

Affiliated with the HEU Alumni Association, the Heying Alumni Association is a voluntary, non-profit organization comprising alumni working in the nuclear industry. The association’s mission is to strengthen connections among alumni, between alumni and their alma mater, and between HEU and the nuclear sector. Going forward, the association will organize alumni events to facilitate resource sharing, foster collaboration, support HEU’s teaching, research, and academic initiatives, and promote alumni career development—all in the spirit of contributing to the university’s continued growth and development.
