
On September 6, Harbin Engineering University(HEU)held the inauguration ceremony of the Graduate Supervisor Development Center for Shipbuilding, Ocean Engineering, and Nuclear Science, along with the Membership Day event of the China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Association.

President SONG Yingdong stated that in recent years, HEU has been dedicated to building a high-caliber faculty in the fields of shipbuilding, ocean engineering, and nuclear science, achieving a series of notable results. He expressed three expectations for the new center: first, to concentrate on cutting-edge disciplines by integrating international academic advances into teaching and research; second, to prioritize the development of the faculty by providing diversified training, exchange, and growth opportunities for supervisors; third, to emphasize the integration of science and education as well as industry and education, strengthening deep collaboration with key enterprises in these fields. He emphasized that the university will fully leverage the platform of the center to further optimize the management and service mechanisms for supervisors, pool high-quality resources from all sides, and support their professional growth.

CHENG Shuang, Deputy Director of the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Education, offered three recommendations for the center’s development: first, to remain aligned with national strategic needs; second, to persist in reform and innovation; third, to optimize support mechanisms by integrating the spirit of educatorism into the entire process of supervisor training, fostering a supportive environment through daily engagement, project empowerment, and platform support. She expressed hope that the center will become a pivotal platform for the professional development of supervisors in these fields and cultivate more outstanding talents.

The Graduate Supervisor Development Center for Shipbuilding, Ocean Engineering, and Nuclear Science (hereinafter referred to as the “Center”) was established under the guidance of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, with support from the China Graduate Supervisor Development Community. By collaborating with leading institutions in these fields, the Center aims to build a high-quality team of graduate supervisors and develop into a national model for supervisor development, contributing expertise and solutions to continuously enhance the quality of graduate supervision in shipbuilding, ocean engineering, and nuclear science.
