On October 11, Harbin Engineering University (HEU) hosted the 7th China-Pakistan Marine Information Technology Conference (CPMI).

The opening ceremony was attended by XU Zhenyu, Director of the Education Department of Heilongjiang Province; CHEN Su, Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Heilongjiang Province; YIN Jingwei, President of HEU; Pakistani representatives; and ZHANG Xiaoyan, Secretary-General of the Heilongjiang Association for Science and Technology. These dignitaries delivered speeches, and YU Zhiwen, Vice President of HEU, presided over the ceremony.

XU Zhenyu emphasized the strong all-weather strategic partnership between China and Pakistan, noting the ongoing deepening of cooperation in education, science and technology, and talent development. He highlighted the Education Department of Heilongjiang Province’s commitment to leveraging resources, strengthening policy support, and enhancing university-enterprise cooperation to elevate China-Pakistan collaboration to new heights.

CHEN Su discussed the vast potential for cooperation between the two countries in scientific research and talent development. He announced that the Department of Science and Technology of Heilongjiang Province would focus on key fields, create cooperation platforms, and facilitate further exchanges and collaborations.

YIN Jingwei remarked that HEU has long maintained close partnerships with Pakistani universities and research institutions. Through joint research initiatives and the establishment of collaborative platforms, HEU has contributed to enhancing scientific research capabilities on both sides. He expressed confidence that this conference would foster further collaboration, expand areas of cooperation, and lay the groundwork for deeper future exchanges.

Pakistani representatives conveyed their country’s commitment to the sustainable use of marine resources. They expressed hope that experts and scholars from both nations would work together to drive innovation and advancement in marine science and technology.

ZHANG Xiaoyan expressed a desire to use the conference as an opportunity to strengthen exchanges between scientific and technological organizations from China and Pakistan, further stimulating innovation and cooperation.

More than 20 experts and scholars from both countries delivered keynote speeches and invited presentations at the conference. Their discussions focused on interdisciplinary and cutting-edge topics, sharing the latest research findings and exploring future trends and challenges in marine information technology.

During the conference, YIN Jingwei held a meeting with the Pakistani delegation in the VIP Meeting Room on the 4th floor of the Qihang Building. They engaged in in-depth discussions on potential areas for scientific research cooperation, joint talent cultivation, and the establishment of exchange mechanisms. They also signed a cooperation agreement to formalize their commitment to ongoing collaboration.

A roundtable meeting was also held, bringing together Chinese and Pakistani representatives for further discussions.

The conference featured a student paper poster competition, with participants from both countries presenting their research findings. Experts provided valuable feedback, and a total of 8 outstanding posters were selected for recognition.

Launched by HEU in 2019, CPMI has now been held for six sessions. The conference has become an important platform for researchers from both nations to share innovative research, technological breakthroughs, and practical insights, further promoting China-Pakistan collaboration.
