
From October 28 to 30, the “Huawei Cup” 7th China Graduate Artificial Intelligence Innovation Competition was held in Qingdao. Teams from HEU won 5 National First Prizes, 8 National Second Prizes, and 17 National Third Prizes in the main track. Among them, the project “Virtual Boat Intelligence Simulation - An Intelligent Guide for Ship Motion Digital Twin” from the College of Intelligent Systems won the National Runner-up. Harbin Engineering University (HEU) secured 1 First Prize and 2 Second Prizes in the local special topic track, as well as 1 Second Prize and 2 Third Prizes in the international track. Five faculty advisors were recognized as Excellent Instructors. HEU received the Excellent Organization Award, ranking first among all participating institutions nationwide in terms of the total number of awards.
HEU provides comprehensive support for students to participate in scientific and technological innovation competitions, aiming to enhance the innovative thinking and practical abilities of graduate students. This approach fosters talent through competition and gathers talent via contests, inspiring young students to become top-notch innovative talents who can meet national demands, address industrial development needs, and contribute to regional growth.

The competition targets current graduate students from universities and research institutes across the country. It aims to stimulate the innovative vitality and research potential of graduate students, focusing on cultivating innovative, interdisciplinary, and application-oriented high-end talents. It provides talent support for the healthy development of the artificial intelligence field and promotes technological innovation and the practical application of AI.
This year’s competition, under the theme “AI Empowerment, Intelligent Creation of the Future,” focused on core AI directions such as machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, and intelligent control, demonstrating extensive influence and serving as a model event.
