From November 7 to 9, the finals of the 4th China Postgraduate “Double Carbon” Innovation and Creativity Competition was held at Shenyang University of Chemical Technology. HEU’s teams achieved remarkable success, earning 6 National First Prizes, 1 National Second Prize, and 1 National Third Prize in the Expert Track.
The project “Guardian of ‘Purification’ – The Future Formula for the Application of New Green and High-Efficiency Oil-Absorbing Resin” won the national championship and received the title of “Double Carbon Star.” Twelve faculty members—including WANG Guojun, WANG Qiang, CHEN Xiaohu, WANG Yanhua, CHEN Heng, WEI Yunpeng, YU Jing, WANG Jun, ZHANG Lili, WANG Xiaodong, WANG Ci, and CUI Jinhui—were recognized as Excellent Advisors. HEU also received the Excellent Organization Award, with its number of First Prizes ranking first among all participating universities nationwide. YANG Wei, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and LÜ Zhicheng, Mayor of Shenyang, presented awards to HEU’s champion team.
In active support of the national “double carbon” strategy, HEU leverages its unique strengths in SMON-oriented education. The university promotes immersive university–enterprise cooperation, encouraging teachers to work closely with industry partners and guide students in developing practical skills through real-world problem-solving.
HEU has established several innovation platforms, including the Research Institute of Carbon Neutrality, the Research Institute of Ship Digital and Intelligent Technology, and the HEU Jixi Carbon Material Innovation Research Institute. These platforms focus on tackling key technological challenges, building strategic scientific and technological capabilities in the shipbuilding, marine, and nuclear fields, and advancing a new model of integrated “industry–university–research–application” development. By strengthening its talent cultivation systems, HEU continues to provide strong intellectual and technical support for major national strategies and breakthroughs in cutting-edge industrial technologies.
