From November 9 to 13, Yu Zhiwen, Vice President of Harbin Engineering University (HEU), led a five-member delegation to Hong Kong and Singapore for a series of exchange activities. The delegation visited five leading universities, including The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Baptist University, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore, and the National University of Singapore (NUS). During the visits, they held in-depth discussions on discipline development, scientific research collaboration, and joint talent cultivation.

Focusing on disciplines such as marine engineering, mathematics, physics, and computer science, the HEU delegation and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University reached consensus on scientific research cooperation, platform co-construction, and joint talent development. Representatives from both sides signed an Inter-University Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding.

At Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, both parties expressed intentions to cooperate in interdisciplinary areas, including computer science and the emerging low-altitude economy. They agreed to deepen collaboration through faculty and student exchanges, joint research projects, and other initiatives. Representatives also signed the Cooperation Agreement on Computer Science and Engineering.

The meeting with Hong Kong Baptist University centered on exploring potential cooperation in computer science, laying the groundwork for future collaboration.

During visits to Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the National University of Singapore (NUS), the delegation engaged in discussions on interdisciplinary development and cutting-edge technology research. They toured key laboratories and innovation platforms and reached preliminary cooperation intentions in areas such as artificial intelligence, data science, and quantum physics.

To strengthen connections with overseas alumni and leverage their support for the university’s future development, the delegation also held alumni forums in both Hong Kong and Singapore. They listened to alumni feedback and exchanged views on the university’s progress.

Building on the achievements of this visit, HEU will continue to deepen strategic cooperation with universities in Hong Kong and Singapore, integrate high-quality resources, promote international collaborative innovation, and enhance high-level talent exchanges. These efforts will further support the university’s advancement toward its “Double First-Class” development goals.
