On November 28, SONG Yingdong, Party Secretary of Harbin Engineering University (HEU), led a delegation to Wuhu Shipyard Co., Ltd. for discussions on research and cooperation. The delegation held talks with YIN Tongyue, Chairman of Chery Holding Group Co., Ltd., and ZHANG Zhao, Chairman of Wuhu Shipyard Co., Ltd., among others. ZHAO Yuxin, Vice President of HEU, and Professor LIU Zhigang, Dean of the Carbon Neutrality Institute, also joined the visit.

YIN Tongyue warmly welcomed SONG Yingdong and his delegation. He emphasized that both parties should leverage their respective strengths in future collaborations, foster cross-disciplinary innovative initiatives, and facilitate the transformation of university scientific achievements into practical industrial applications. YIN also highlighted the importance of co-developing talent training bases to meet industrial demands and contribute to the nation’s technological self-reliance.
SONG Yingdong expressed his gratitude to Chery Holding Group and Wuhu Shipyard for their longstanding support of the university’s growth. He noted that the collaboration between HEU and the enterprises is built on a solid foundation with vast potential. He encouraged both sides to focus on future industry trends, intensify joint scientific research on key challenges, co-develop high-level R&D platforms, accelerate the practical application of technological innovations, and create an integrated innovation chain that combines industry, academia, research, and application. He also stressed the importance of cultivating top-tier talent in shipbuilding and maritime engineering to contribute to national development.
During the forum, both parties witnessed the signing of the Cooperation Agreement for the establishment of the Marine and Offshore High-End Equipment Industry Innovation Center between Wuhu Shipyard and Harbin Engineering University. The unveiling ceremony of the innovation center was also held.
ZHANG Zhao stated that Wuhu Shipyard will collaborate closely with HEU to address the needs of the marine and offshore high-end equipment sectors. Using the co-construction of the innovation center as a starting point, they will form joint research teams to promote the transformation and implementation of innovative outcomes, driving the deep integration of technological and industrial innovation.

During the visit, SONG Yingdong and his delegation toured the facility to gain a deeper understanding of the enterprise’s advanced achievements and hands-on experience. They also engaged with alumni working at Wuhu Shipyard and graduate students involved in practical research at the company.
