Recently, the 6th Member Congress of the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry was held in Beijing. The congress elected the 6th Council and the 1st Board of Supervisors. Professor HAN Duanfeng, Vice President of Harbin Engineering University (HEU), along with alumni SHAO Yu, WENG Hongbing, and WANG Qi, were elected vice presidents of the association. Assistant President CHEN Hailong was elected chairman of the Board of Supervisors. The congress presented the “Blue Sea Dedication Award” honor certificates to senior vice presidents who have long been involved in the association’s work. Professor XIA Guihua from HEU received this honor.

It is reported that the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry was established in April 1995. It is a national and sectoral social organization with legal person status. The association’s registration authority is the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and its supervising industry department is the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The association is voluntarily formed by ship and offshore engineering equipment manufacturing and repair enterprises, supporting equipment manufacturers, scientific research and design institutes, higher education (specialized) and vocational education institutions, related trade and financial institutions, upstream and downstream enterprises, and regional social organizations. It currently has 360 formal members. Adhering to the purpose of “serving the nation, society, the public, and the industry,” the association safeguards the legitimate rights and interests of the industry and its member units, playing a bridging role between the government, the industry, and the members.
