China’s First DP3 Dynamic Positioning System Receives ABS Design Certification — HEU’s Scientific Achievements Debut at Marintec China 2025

From December 2 to 5, Marintec China 2025—widely regarded as the “bellwether of the global maritime industry” and one of the world’s most influential maritime exhibitions—was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. During the event, China’s first DP3 Dynamic Positioning System, led by Harbin Engineering University (HEU), received Design Approval certification from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). The system was unveiled alongside 35 other scientific and technological achievements developed by HEU.

ABS Issues Design Approval Certificate for DP3 Dynamic Positioning System

On the morning of December 2, an award ceremony for the ABS Design Approval Certificate was held at HEU’s exhibition booth.

YIN Jingwei, President of HEU, noted that the certification of the DP3 Dynamic Positioning System represents a significant milestone in HEU’s efforts to support China’s shipbuilding and marine engineering industries in achieving international standards and global recognition. He expressed hope that this achievement would further strengthen collaboration with maritime enterprises, research institutes, and classification societies both domestically and internationally, promote iterative upgrades and industrial applications of dynamic positioning technology, and accelerate the high-end transformation of China’s marine supporting industries.

Witnessed by all guests, the relevant person in charge of ABS awarded the DP3 Dynamic Positioning System Design Approval Certificate to the representative of the R&D team.

HEU’s Scientific Achievements Draw Wide Attention

At Marintec China 2025, 35 scientific and technological achievements from HEU were showcased, drawing significant interest from industry experts and visitors.
